Austin, TX Guide

Accommodations: Stayed at an Air BnB in Clarksville (609 Blanco St) – highly recommend area & this cute condo!

Restaurants:

  • Josephine House: in Clarksville, my favorite spot ever for brunch. Ridiculously cute and incredible food. NY prices, not necessarily the “Austin” experience

  • Veracruz Taco Truck: best breakfast taco in Austin – get the Mega taco. In East side

  • Torchy’s Tacos: chain with really good breakfast tacos. We went to one in South Congress

  • La Barbecue: rivals Franklins, in East side. Small truck with line (we waited an hour, can get up to 2hrs) but has keg with free beer while you wait. One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. Get beef rib if they have it (I got last one!)

  • Salt Lick BBQ: did not go, but recommended for a day activity. Around 30min drive, BYOB, and huge bbq pit with outdoor games

  • Clark’s Oyster bar: in Clarksville, super cute with outdoor seating. Great oysters & cocktails

  • Perla’s: owned by Clarks and Josephine house guys but we did not go. In South Congress looks like somewhere I would love with a lot of outdoor seating

  • Hopdoddy’s Burgers: recommended as best burger in Austin. Was good but nothing to write home about.

  • Emmer & Rye: one of Bon Apetit’s top 2016 new restaurants. Downtown on Rainey street, great menu with dim sum offerings as well. Really good food and a super fast meal

  • Justine’s Brasserie: French vibes that focuses on great dinner but also a party scene, serves dinner until very late. In East side kind of in middle of nowhere

  • Uchi: recommended for sushi and incredible happy hour pricing but we did not go

Activities

  • Barton Springs: we did not go because it was too cold, but it is a natural spring-fed pool to swim and a must-do if warm enough

  • Greenbelt: a massive natural green space to hike or swim in the river

  • Mount Bonell: short activity that gives you beautiful view of entire city
